The iconic Toyota Supra driven by Paul Walker’s character in The Fast and the Furious film was sold over the weekend at a record-breaking price.

Selling for $550,000 USD at Barret-Jackson's Las Vegas auction, the movie car also appeared in the 2 Fast 2 Furious sequel where it went under redesign, but later returned to its original condition. According to Hypebeast, the vehicle now holds the record for most expensive Supra ever sold and was sold with official documentation certifying its authenticity.

As we previously reported, the Supra was built for the film by California’s The Shark Shop and features a custom body kit, high rear wing and the iconic “Nuclear Gladiator” graphic. The one downside of the sports car is that it is actually a 4-speed automatic and the shifter knob was added into the interior for the sake of the movie.

The orange targa-top was used as a “hero car” for close-ups and interior shots and featured in the film’s climactic drag race between Walker’s Brian O’Conner and Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto characters.

A similarly-styled stunt car was sold in 2015 for $185,000, and the Hagerty Price Guide says a stock version in perfect condition is worth $134,000. The final bid easily quadrupled these prices.

Toyota discontinued the Supra in the U.S. in 1998, but resurrected the name on a new model in 2020 due in part to a fanbase fueled by its appearance in the film, which spawned one of the most successful movie franchises of all time.
