Cole Swindell On His ACM Song of the Year Nominee
Cole Swindell’s “Break Up In The End” is up for the Academy of Country Music’s Song of the Year honor, an award that is presented to the songwriters. However, while Cole is a songwriter of note, he didn’t have a hand in penning “Break Up In The End.” The song was written by Jon Nite, Chase McGill, and Jessie Jo Dillon.
Cole says of the song, “It’s one of the best love songs, break up songs that I’ve ever heard. I know it sounds crazy but it is a breakup song. You know what happens in the end, but it’s just about one of those relationships where you can’t regret it. It just doesn’t work out and [there are] no hard feelings. I think this song’s gonna touch people that have been there. All of our relationships got us to where we are today and that’s what this song is all about.”
This is Swindell’s first nomination in the Song category, but not his first ACM honor as he won the Academy of Country Music New Artist of the Year in 2015.
The ACM Awards will air live on CBS from Las Vegas on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
