People Are Confused About Florida Georgia Line’s Grammy Nomination
People are confused about Florida Georgia Line’s Grammy Awards nomination.
As you know, the country duo collaborated with Bebe Rexha on “Meant to Be,” a duet that would go on to claim the number 1 spot on several billboard charts, including the Top 40 and Hot Country charts.
Fast forward to Friday when the Grammy Awards nominations were announced, and it led to a lot of confusion where “Meant to Be” was concerned.
Allow us to explain.
The song was nominated for Country Duo / Group Performance, even though Rexha is not a country artist and was the lead in the song.
According to Taste of Country, the reasoning behind this is a song can’t be selected in more than one genre.
So, who decides which genre a song fits in?
Apparently, the Grammy’s have a screening committee they rely on to determine what genre a song belongs in.
When the screening committee listened to “Meant to Be” they agreed it sounded more country than it did pop.
So there you have it! Do you agree with the screening committee?
