Brantley Gilbert On What It’s Like To Be On Stage
Not many people get to experience what it’s like to walk onto a large stage and perform for tens of thousands of people, but Brantley Gilbert is shedding some light on the experience.
The Georgia native likens it to high school football, albeit on a much larger scale. “It’s party time,” he says in an interview released by his record label. “It’s the closest I’ve ever felt to like walking out on the field on Friday night to play like high school football. All eyes are on you, you gotta do your job and you gotta do it well. But you’ve practiced and you know your job, [so] it’s just all about having a good time.”

No every moment is party-like, of course. “You’ve got your other songs in the set where it’s I more [heartfelt and] has a deeper meaning,” he continues. “All of mine are close to me emotionally, but I feel like if you write a song the right way you relive it every time you sing it.”
If bouncing from party song to love balland sounds like a roller coaster trip, it kind of is. “A lot of people ask [if it’s] hard to sing songs like that,” he continues. “It’s not so much the case. I found if you write it right, you relive it every time. But I feel like when you relive something you learn something different from it every time, and it’s actually helped me deal with a lot of things that those songs are about.”
