Thomas Rhett And Family Visit FDNY Ladder 25 On 9/11 Anniversary
Thomas Rhett was 11 and wife Lauren was 12 when the 9/11 terrorist attacks took place in 2001, but the tragedy clearly had a powerful effect on them.
As the couple and their two daughters were exploring New York on the 16th anniversary of the attacks, they dropped by Ladder 25 to visit members of the FDNY. “I still remember sitting in my chair in middle school that morning watching on TV our country being attacked,” Lauren wrote on Instagram of the visit. “Meeting some of the men and women who serve our country, some of them who even served our country on that day 16 years ago, and seeing the photos of those who lost their lives from Ladder 25 on 9/11, was so surreal. God bless the first responders of New York City [and] our country.”
The couple posted a series a pictures on social media from the visit, one of which featured adopted daughter Willa donning an FDNY helmet in front of a Ladder 25 fire truck.
The engine company lost 14 firefighters on 9/11; the department as a whole lost nearly 250. Almost 3,000 Americans in all were killed in the attacks.
