Brantley Gilbert: What You See Is What You Get
Everyone wants good music, but it’s arguable that fans these days want authenticity just as much. That’s how Brantley Gilbert sees it anyway, and he strives to provide it.
The Georgia-based country music bad boy recently sat down with folks at his record label to talk about his new single “The Ones That Like Me,” which he says offers a true understanding of who he is. “I don’t pretend to be something I’m not,” Brantley explains. “I don’t have to because my story’s interesting enough as it is. But that song is me in a nutshell [and] where I’m at in life. And the people that are close to me and know me really well know that that song is me in a nutshell.”
Take a look at some of the lyrics:
The ones that need me got me
The ones that doubt me can’t stop me
Even the ones that said forget him
You can bet they ain’t forgot me
Either wanna hit me or hold me
Those that hate me don’t know me
And the ones that don’t trust anybody trust me
Yeah, the ones that like me love me
“It’s just kind of what you see is what you get,” Brantley continues. “I am who I am and the people that are close to me in life, that know me, know every aspect of me.”
The song is briefly featured in a new commercial for Apple Music. Check it out below.
