I feel incredibly lucky in my career as a radio host. Seriously, most folks in this industry have to bounce around from one city to another just to make a living. But guess what? I've been able to do it all right here in my hometown for the past 20 years. Can you believe that?

It's like hitting the jackpot, I tell ya. While my fellow radio hosts have had to pack up and move their lives every few years, I've been able to stay put and do what I love in the place where I grew up. Talk about a rare and special situation. I can't help but feel a whole lot of gratitude and amazement about it.

When I think about how things usually go in this line of work, it's pretty wild. People often expect radio hosts to be these wandering souls, never really settling down. But not me. Nope. I've had the incredible fortune of sharing my passion for broadcasting right here in Las Vegas, without having to say goodbye to my roots or my loved ones. It's a real blessing, let me tell you.

Sure, I've worked hard and developed my skills along the way. I've put in the time and effort to perfect my voice and make connections in the industry. I'm not discounting all that, believe me. But at the same time, I can't ignore the fact that luck has played a big role in my story. It's like the stars aligned just right for me to have this unique and fortunate situation.

In this ever-changing industry, where things can get pretty unpredictable, I find solace in the fact that I've built my career right here in my hometown. It's my anchor, my safe haven. I feel so blessed to have this connection with my community, where the streets hold memories and the people are like family.

I believe in luck, and apparently so do a lot of psychologists.

Luck Might Not Be Random

You won't believe it, but according to psychologists, luck might not be as random as we think. It turns out there are actually a few things we can do to increase our chances of being lucky. Intriguing, right? Here are three strategies that can help you become luckier:

1. Act Lucky

First off, act like you're a lucky person. Believe it or not, optimists tend to be better prepared and find themselves in more favorable situations compared to pessimists. When you have a positive mindset and genuinely believe in your luck, you become more confident and capable. This confidence can lead to incredible opportunities, like landing that dream job because your belief in your luck shines through during the interview.

2. Shake Things Up

Next, don't be afraid to shake up your routine. Stepping out of your comfort zone can work wonders for your luck. When you break free from the monotony and try new things, your senses become heightened, and you open yourself up to a world of unexpected possibilities. By embracing spontaneity and inviting a bit of randomness into your life, you increase the chances of fortunate events finding their way to you.

3. Be a Goldfish

If you've watched Ted Lasso you've heard the concept of "being a goldfish."

It simply means: have a short memory. When something unlucky happens, the best course of action is to let it go and move on. Dwelling on past misfortunes only keeps you stuck in a negative cycle. Instead, adopt a forward-looking approach. Learn from any setbacks, but swiftly shift your focus towards making smart choices and taking calculated risks. By keeping a positive outlook and consistently making intelligent decisions, you create more opportunities for lucky breaks to come your way.

Give It a Try

So there you have it—three strategies to cultivate and attract more luck into your life. Remember, luck isn't purely random. By acting like a lucky person, embracing change, and maintaining a forward-thinking mindset, you can enhance your chances of experiencing fortunate events. Give it a try and see how the tides of luck may turn in your favor.
