I have been a die hard NY Giants fan my whole life. My dad raised me to ‘bleed blue’ so you can imagine how sad I was when I found out that 2x Super Bowl Champion and MVP. Eli Manning was tending bar here in Las Vegas during the Super Bowl and I didn’t have any idea!
I have a few good stories as to why the Giants are so important to me. (Other than, the fandom of the New York Football Giants has been handed down for years, win or lose.) The Giants won the Super Bowl the year I was born and they also won the Super Bowl the year my oldest, Jayden born. For the most part (set aside the last 10 years) it has been a fun ride being a fan of the the Big Blue.
The last time they were in the Super Bowl in 2012 I wrote to Ellen DeGeneres explaining that I was a huge Giants fan and wanted to compete for the Super Bowl tickets in her big game competition show. I was selected to fly to LA to be on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and compete for the tickets with four other girls. We had to joust .. not on horseback but on a pedestal. (Listen I am a lot of things but an American Gladiator isn’t one of them) I sadly lost but ended up going home with a TV. In the long run I was a winner because the Giants ended up beating the Patriots for the 2nd time in 4 years and I got to watch the game with my dad on the couch where we always watch!
I have met only ONE New York Giant in person, it was legend, Lawrence Taylor (LT) at an autograph signing here in Las Vegas. It was so cool to experience that with my dad because I grew up watching high lights of LT on YouTube.
This is why I was so sad that Eli Manning was here in Las Vegas and I missed him! The good news is, that a local Las Vegas bar and a local bartender were featured in a Super Bowl commercial with Eli Manning!!! Eli teamed up with Stella Artois in a campaign called “The Stella Substitutes” to send a local bartender, Meg to the Super Bowl and he covered her shift at ReBar, a bar in the Arts District here in Las Vegas! Being a former bartender, I know holidays and big game days, you will most definitely be at work because those are the busiest days. So the fact that Eli covered Meg’s shift and she was on the 50 yard line at the BIG GAME was pretty spectacular! Way to go Eli Manning and congrats to Meg!
