Reba McEntire Shares More Sitcom Details
Reba McEntire shared a few new sitcom details last night (5/16) before she hosted the ACM Awards for the 17th time in her long career.
Before the show, the country icon walked the ACM Red Carpet and said with glee when her new NBC sitcom was mentioned: “‘Happy’s Place’ got picked up, and we’re so happy Barbara Jean’s (Melissa Peterman’s well-known character on the Reba sitcom) coming back, and her name is Gabby on the show. It’s very appropriate for Melissa Peterman. I love that it’s all the Harts and my sister.”
Just last week (5/8), Reba revealed that her new sitcom would be called Happy’s Place.
Reba posted a photo of her holding a script from the new series on her Instagram. She captioned the image, “#ICant think of a better way to end the day…a new single and now a new sitcom. We’ll see you at #HappysPlace on @nbc soon!”
Many fans reacted to the post, including one who said, “Can’t wait, it is about time when are u coming back.” Another fan commented, “So awesome!! I’ve missed seeing you on TV!! I recently watched The Gambler, which had you in it. You had some fiery zingers, as always!”

The new series will revolve around Reba’s character, who inherits her father’s restaurant. She is less than thrilled to discover she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had.
The New Show
The new show will also bring Reba back together with the team that produced her Reba series from 2001 to 2007 and Malibu Country. Kevin Abbott will write the series and executive produce alongside Michael Hanel, Mindy Schultheis, and Julie Abbott.
In my many interviews with Reba throughout the years, she told me that she finds acting to be another kind of creative outlet and enjoys stepping into a role because she gets to be a different character.
She said, “It’s another creative outlet—that’s why I love acting. When I did ‘Annie Get Your Gun,’ I had to sing and act, but I also had to be another character. I wasn’t Reba McEntire, so that’s what I really enjoy doing—being outside my character.”
McEntire also performed at the ACM Awards last night (5/16) and sang a new song called “I Can’t.” When she released the song last week, she told us, “I’m thrilled to have new music to share with my fans, and I can’t wait to hear what they think about it. This is such a powerful song.”
