Las Vegas: Here Is When Caitlin Clark Comes To Town, Will Take On Former Teammate
From the NCAA Final Four right to the draft, it didn’t take long for the WBA’s Caitlin Clark/Indiana Fever era to officially begin. In fact, the season is just about to start. Clark’s Fever team will take on the Las Vegas Aces four times this year.
The first time the two teams will tip off is on May 25. This game is in Las Vegas at the Michelob ULTRA Arena, marking the first time Clark will come to town to play a game as the WNBA pro player. What’s unique about this is that it is also very likely Clark will be squaring off against one of her old University of Iowa teammates.
Kate Martin was drafted 18th overall by the Aces in the second round of last month’s draft. As of early this week, Martin had survived the first few rounds of cuts and remains on the active roster. Aces star Kelsey Plum had high praise for Martin, saying recently in an interview that, “Kate Martin is awesome. Kate Martin picks up things so quickly, she’s an amazing sponge.”
While it’s to be determined still whether or not these two Hawkeye guards will actually guard each other in the games, we do know when and where their teams will play this season.
Caitlin Clark and The Indiana Fever Vs. The Las Vegas Aces
Aside from the first game later this month, here are the details on the other three times the teams will play this WNBA regular season.
- Tuesday, July 2 in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena
- Wednesday, September 11 in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse
- Friday, September 13 in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse
Other game dates to be aware of this season that feature other WNBA big-name rookies coming to town include Tuesday, July 16, and Tuesday, September 3, when the Chicago Sky come to Las Vegas. The Sky drafted Angel Reese out of LSU 7th overall. Prior to that, the Sky also selected Kamilla Cardoso from the current NCAA champion, South Carolina.
Cameron Brink and the Los Angeles Sparks will play their first game in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 18. They return for a second game on Sunday, August 18.
As for our hometown Aces, the defending back-to-back WNBA champions have two other rookies drafted to the team this year. They are Dyaisha Fair from Syracuse, and Elizabeth Kitley from Virginia Tech.
They of course join Martin, and stars Plum, and A’ja Wilson.
