Luke Combs Pens Song for Those Living a Sober Lifestyle
Country singer Luke Combs has written a new song called “Joe” for people living a sober lifestyle. Combs believes that this lifestyle is often underserved in country music, which has many songs about drinking and partying.
As Combs explains, “Sometimes I wonder what someone in the crowd who doesn’t drink, or struggles with addiction, is thinking or feeling when there’s thousands of people around them screaming ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’.” He felt that these people deserved to have a song they can relate to and sing along with.
“Joe” will be featured on Combs’ upcoming album, “Gettin’ Old,” which is set to be released on March 24th.
Combs is not alone in recognizing the importance of addressing sober living in music. Many artists have written songs about the challenges of addiction and recovery, including Demi Lovato, Macklemore, and Eminem.
In a society where alcohol and drugs are often glamorized and celebrated in popular culture, it is important to provide representation for those who have made the choice to live a sober lifestyle. Combs’ song is a welcome addition to the genre and a powerful message of support for those who are living a life free of addiction.
