How To Help Your Student With Homework
School is back in session… Parents, that doesn’t mean you’re off of the hook yet. After a long day of learning, many of our teachers assign homework to help our students retain the information taught in class.
Students may need a little extra help on question number four and who are they going to ask? You. Before you freak out on how to help your student we are here to help!
Here is a list from Education.Gov on how to best assist your student:
1. Show That You Think Education and Homework Are Important
Your child’s workspace is important. A well-lit and quiet room makes concentration easier for children to focus.
Set a time every day for your student to complete homework to teach them about appointment settings.
Let your student know that doing their homework is important for their future.
2. Monitor Assignments
Check your student’s homework before and after they complete an assignment.
Monitor if your student is receiving comments on their assignments to best help them achieve success.
3. Provide Guidance
Help your student get organized with the tools that they need to accomplish their student goals.
Talk with your student about which school subjects they need the most help in.
4. Talk with Teachers to Resolve Problems
Make time to meet with your student’s teacher to create a plan on how to help your student.
Schedule a plan with the teacher to create ample study time, homework time, and project time.
