‘Twilight’ Prequel ‘Midnight Sun’ Is Released

The prequel to the Twilight series of books, which spawned three movies starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, is now available online and at book stores.

Author Stephenie Meyer abandoned Midnight Sun more than a decade ago, after part of the book leaked online in 2008; at the time a few chapters had been given to a few people working on the Twilight films.

After the leak, Meyer put the novel on hold and put the leaked material on her website for fans to read, saying at the time, “I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.”

Meyer recently said on her website that "I really considered delaying the release until the world was back to normal. However, 1) who knows when that will be? And 2) you guys have waited long enough. Much longer than long enough, actually."

The work retells the events of Twilight from the perspective of Edward Cullen instead of that of the series' usual narrating character Bella Swan.

Midnight Sun is now the 6th book in the Twilight series.
