Reality TV Show ‘Cops’ Canceled Amid Police Protests
After 30 years since getting introduced to the “Bad Boys” theme song the TV reality show ‘Cops’ is canceled amid the George Floyd police reform protests.
ViacomCBS started to pull episodes on June 1st, however, it decided to cancel everything all together, according to CNBC.
Reality shows like ‘Cops’ are under fire in the wake of George Floyd’s killing.
″‘Cops’ is not on the Paramount Network and we don’t have any current or future plans for it to return,” said a network spokesperson in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
ViacomCBS-owned company The Paramount Network was still airing episodes of the show but the decision was echoed by others.
“This is the right move and I want to give Paramount credit for being one of the first,” said Rashad Robinson in a New York Times interview, executive director of Color of Change. “We want to see more.”
Any and all commitments to the show ends this month and there aren’t any plans of renewal, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
