Yesterday, I saw Joker in theaters over at Red Rock. Earlier that morning, Aimee and I talked about parents bringing their kids to this movie and whether or not she should bring her 11-year-old son Jayden. The answer? Don't bring your kids to this movie.

Joker is a movie about mental illness and pure madness. The violence that occurs in not "comic book action" but simply put, murder.

Did I love the film? No, not really. Now maybe it was all the hype surrounding it could only leave me disappointed. I felt Joaquin Phoenix's Joker was so mentally ill to the point where there was no depth, only depression which formed into madness.

This is NOT a date night movie. I am so glad I went with a friend instead of my girlfriend because, simply put, it is a not a movie you want to talk about afterwards in the car ride home.

Only see this movie if you are in a stable-minded place because it can mess with you. Phoenix's character in the film is more than just an outcast, he is an estranged and disturbed individuals with delusions of what his reality actually is. Don't get me wrong, the performance should earn him a Best Actor nomination in the 2020 Academy Awards, but that's simply because no one has played a character this complex to the point where it is incomprehensible.
