Hotel Room Taxes to Drop by Two-Thirds
The agency promoting tourism in Las Vegas is quickly re-doing its budget, with coronavirus casino closures and business shutdowns projected to result in a two-thirds cut in hotel room tax funding for the fiscal year starting July 1.
Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority chief executive Steve Hill told the Las Vegas Sun authority room tax revenue is expected to drop from $300 million to between $100 million and $120 million for the upcoming fiscal year.
The authority board last week slashed its budget by $79 million and agreed to delay until next month consideration of a new spending plan.
