Las Vegas HOA Increased Fees Through The Roof
Being a part of a homeowners association is both a blessing and a curse. Sure, you probably won’t have a person using their front yard as a junk yard. But sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. Now one community is really feeling the squeeze after one HOA increased fees drastically over the year.
The community is Rock Springs Vista located on South Buffalo between Alta and Westcliff. The condo complex is relatively unassuming, but you’ll be shocked to hear how high the HOA increased fees.
Rock Springs Vista HOA Increased Fees 168% In 2024
When the start of 2024 hit, the HOA fee in the community increased from around $200 to $250, one community member told KLAS. A 20 percent increase? Not fun. But hey, things are more expensive nowadays.
Well the Rock Springs HOA increased fees beginning this January to a massive $416 per month. From $250 to $416 a month over the course of a year. That is absolutely asinine.
Before you say “well they must have it all there,” not quite. According to the community, the pools are unreliable and the community is not particularly fancy.
While a bunch of disgruntled owners in the community descended upon the HOA meeting to voice their frustration, the HOA increased fees anyways and approved it.
Looking For Relief From The Law? Head To California
Unfortunately Nevada state law does not have any rules that would cap HOA fee increases. However in California, HOAs can only increase their fees up to 20 percent year to year. So that increase from $200 to $250 would be it. It’s still too much, but better than over $400!
There isn’t much recourse for homeowners in the community who will now be left with a decision: stay and pay or cash out and get out.
