Hats Off: Restaurant Owner Spends $2,000 To Advertise For Struggling Competitors
Jeff & Aimee are giving a Hats Off to a restaurant in Stevens Point, Wisconsin!
Adolfo Melendez owns Tex-Mex restaurant El Mezcal and he’s spent $2,000 of his own money to help advertise for his struggling competitors, according to CNN. He bought $2,000 worth of gift cards and raffled it off to his customers.
Melendez thought about the good deed after a local realtor company helped his restaurant during these trying times.
“They did something where people voted for their favorite restaurant and I got second place so they bought $300 in gift cards from me,” Melendez told CNN. “Right after that I was like I’ll probably do something similar.”
Melendez’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed by his competitors!
“In these Covid times, it’s very important to eat local, small mom and pop shops,” said Pete Ananiadis, from Olympia Family Restaurant told WKOW. “He understands that, and for all of us right now it’s a tough time.”
