Jake Owen took to Twitter to share support for his friend Chase Rice after he was blasted by other artists, including Kelsea Ballerini, for playing a concert Saturday night (6/27) for thousands of fans in east Tennessee.

As we've reported, Kelsea posted to her socials Sunday, "Imagine being selfish enough to put thousands of people’s health at risk, not to mention the potential ripple effect, and play a normal country concert right now.  @ChaseRiceMusic, We all want (and need) to tour. We just care about our fans and their families enough to wait."

And then Monday night (6/29), Chase posted a video to fans not apologizing but telling then to practice social distancing at his drive-in show this Friday (7/3).

Jake posted to Twitter last night (6/29), "In a world full of hate, be a light. I swear I’ve heard that on OUR country radio stations. It’s amazing how many country artists, songwriters and media outlets are quick to throw shade at our own people. Sad really."

Reactions were mixed. One fan tweeted back to Jake, "Shouldn’t have tweeted, isn’t gonna go good for you. It’s a pandemic not flu season, there should be no concerts."

While another replied, Replying to @jakeowen "Please don’t tell me you’re defending @ChaseRiceMusic & @janson_chris."

While most comments were angry with Owen, one fan did support hie posting, "Grown ups. Having fun. At a concert. Go or don't go, far as I know everyone still has free will and the right to assemble. Live and let live, glad @jakeowen has the...guts to point this out. New fan."
