Pet Owners Admit Their Pets Are Also Packing On Pounds In Quarantine
No one is safe from the ‘Quarantine 15,’ not even your fur baby!
According to a study released, about 33 percent of pets have gained weight since the start of quarantine in March. Wakefield Research for Banfield Pet Hospital conducted the study.
8 percent of pet owners said that their fur baby “gained a lot of weight,” according to the study.
“With owners spending increased time with their cats and dogs during quarantine, they may be showing affection with food more often,” Banfield veterinarian Dr. Heidi Cooley told The New York Post. “Overfeeding, not providing enough exercise, and giving too many treats are all things that can lead to weight gain in pets.”
Once the quarantine is over 47 percent of owners will spend more time with their pets fearing that their pet will have separation anxiety, according to The New York Post.
In the meantime, make sure to be aware of the amount of food and treats you’re giving to your pet.
