WATCH: College Student Uses Sticky Notes To Make Friends With Elderly Couple Across The Street
With most parties and social gatherings canceled, one NYC college student made friends with someone without even leaving her apartment.
Lillian Kogan was stuck in her Manhattan apartment when she cooked up the idea of spelling “Hi!” on her window with sticky notes.
Surprisingly, she got a response back from her neighbor directly across from her.
84-year-old Toni Sonet replied back to Lillian with a simple “Hi.” The two then carried the conversation via their windows.
Soon after Lillian offered to get Toni groceries because of the high-risk of seniors catching COVID-19.
Toni turned down Lillian’s nice gesture, however Lillian still surprised Toni by delivering her fresh homemade cookies and another sticky note with Lillian’s phone number in case she needed anything.
“Cookies were delicious,” said Toni, in an Inside Edition interview. “It was fun—it felt like the beginning of a relationship.”
