Luke Combs is out on his fall leg of his "Beer Never Broke My Heart" tour and he says that he had a good reason for choosing his opening acts like Jameson Rodgers and Morgen Wallen.

As he told us, he books hot acts like the aforementioned artists and Ashley McBryde to raise his bar even higher. "I think it’s a really good way to keep myself on my toes, cause I’m a super competitive guy, and I definitely want to go watch their show and go, 'Well alright, I’ve got to do better than that,' cause I know they put on a great show. I don’t ever want to be complacent, I would never be a guy that would put on two really boring acts before the show so my show looked better. You know what I mean?"

He continues, "I want to be the best cause I am the best, that’s my mindset sometimes when I go into these things. You know, Michael Jordan wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game and taking the game-winning shot. That’s the way I feel about being onstage. I want people to go, 'I want to do what that guy does.' That’s the competitive nature that I have, as far as the live performance aspect goes."
