Garth Brooks is gearing up this week for the only stadium-scale concert on his calendar, and the country superstar is really excited for his opening acts, Lainey Wilson and 1980s hit makers Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Garth said in a statement, "I mean, Nitty Gritty – I feel bad for Lainey Wilson and myself because who's going to follow Nitty Gritty! [But] I betcha she's on a full tank of gas and full batteries 'cause isn't she from there?"
Brooks is headlining the first Sugar Bowl Country Kickoff this Saturday (9/2) at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. It's a venue that he's never played in the course of his career. The event is slated to provide a one-of-a-kind experience to mark the start of tailgate season, college football, and everything that goes with it.
Garth also commented on the renovation progress of "Friends in Low Places," his forthcoming bar and entertainment venue in the heart of downtown Nashville. He said, "There's not a floor here you're gonna want to miss. The first floor is just 'bring your helmet.' The second floor gives you a little break from it, but it's still right in your face. The third floor is just going to be 'Trisha Yearwood classy.'"
Brooks added, "But the fourth floor – The Oasis? Up on top? That's going to be where the party's at."

Brooks recently revealed plans to release new music this fall, sharing the news that a new boxed set will be available later this year and confirming it'll include a new studio album he's been working on.
Brooks is teaming up with the folks at Bass Pro Shops, who will be the only retail outlet fans can purchase his latest Limited Series box set. The seven-disc set is the third package in Garth's career, available for pre-order soon.
Brooks said in his Studio G earlier this month (8/7)), "The first Limited Series came out in the late '90s. And what it was, was a chance for everyone to get all the music at a really cool low price. Everyone gets to 'catch up,' which I thought was cool. We did the same thing in the second Limited Series," noting the 2005 release that continued to chronicle his music.
He added, "Now the third – and I'm going to tell you right now, I guarantee that that'll be the last Limited Series that we'll do."
Garth Brooks is a country superstar that can command a stadium full of people in any city he plays, even though his last stadium tour is one that he says was his last. Now with his sites set on a Las Vegas "Garth Brooks / Plus One" at the Coliseum at Caesars Palace residency for the foreseeable future, Garth is celebrating his 61st birthday today (2/7).
Brooks chatted with fans on his weekly Studio G recently (1/9). He said, "I'll tell you right now, this will be the busiest year of our career." It's a big statement coming from a guy who's filled many years of his life on the road and in the studio. He added, "There are going to be so many things happening this year."
Later in the year, he and Trisha Yearwood are committed to a Habitat for Humanity building project on behalf of former President and First Lady Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter. But what else does he have on tap? He does have his new downtown Nashville entertainment venue, Friends in Low Places. Brooks laughs, "This year, we get to open up, I hope."
Garth is also expecting to return to the recording studio this year. He offered, "The studio is going to be wide open this year. We're going to go in and just do a lot of things that probably never will see the light of day. But, to be honest with you, those are my favorite sessions." He added, "This'll probably be one of the heaviest years we've ever had 'cause everything's just coming around to an end or a beginning, which is cool."
