Carrie Underwood revealed in a recent interview that she got revenge on a cheating boyfriend in her 20s. In the interview, Carrie talked about her revenge-fueled songs like "Before He Cheats" and admitted a real-life betrayal inspired her songs.

Underwood answered "Yes" when asked if a boyfriend had ever been unfaithful to her in a relationship. Carrie said, "I mean, at the time, I was young. I was in my 20s. I was in college, and I feel like that was a very big moment where it was like, 'I really thought I knew this person, and it turns out I really did not know this person at all.'"

She also found a little revenge in her own success. Carrie said, "I don't think about it that much anymore, but you know, earlier in my career, I would sometimes be thinking about, like, 'He's probably in the grocery store check-out line, and I'm on a magazine.' You know?" She added, "There's a little pettiness in there."

Underwood attended last week's Janet Jackson concert in Nashville, where her friend and one-time duet partner Ludacris was the opening act. Carrie posted several clips of the show on her Insta stories.

Before the show, Underwood stepped backstage to present Ludacris a special plaque commemorating a big milestone in the success of her and Luda's 2018 duet, "The Champion." She posted a clip of the moment on her Instagram. In the video, Ludacris says, "I have a great and humble announcement, we just got double platinum plaques for my girl Carrie Underwood. 'The Champion' song has gone double platinum."

Ludacris turns to Underwood, who is in a baseball hat standing next to him, and says, "Congratulations." Luda asks her, "How do you feel about this? This is a monument." She replies, "I feel good; I feel like it's just the beginning." He says, "It's just the beginning; thank you for putting me on this record, and thanks to all the fans who have supported and loved and have taken this to heart. Thank you. We couldn't do it without you." Carrie says, "Whoohoo."

Every time awards show nominations come out, it happens: artists will be left out for one reason or another. There are only so many slots for nominees and so much talent in country music. When the ACM Awards nominations were read, there were quite a few surprising omissions and snubs.

As we wait to see the winners for the ACM Awards, which will play out in Texas and air live on Amazon on May 11, we look at some acts that should have gotten some love from the ACM.

Jelly Roll

Jelly Roll has had a fantastic year charting his first country number-one hit, "Son of a Sinner." On his current headlining tour, this guy also sold out arenas all over the country and was a massive hit at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, where he won three awards. Jelly should have at least gotten a nomination in the Visual Media category.

Keith Urban

I know there are many country male singers coming up and getting their shot in the Male Artist category. Keith has had his share over the years of winning Male Artist and earning nominations in the category. Keith toured extensively, and his show is amazing. He clearly should have been in the Entertainer of the Year category this year.

Thomas Rhett

Thomas consistently puts out great music and recently kicked off his current headlining tour. It's sad not to see Thomas' name in any category at all this year.

Scotty McCreery

This guy has had a wonderful year at country radio, on the road, and with his latest album, Same Truck, which came out in 2021. While his album is a bit old to get an album nod this year, McReery has never missed a beat vocally, and it would have been nice to see him in the Male Artist category. Maybe that category, like Entertainer, should have also had seven nominees this year.

Carrie Underwood

Yes, Carrie did get a 2023 ACM nomination for Entertainer of the Year, and she was appreciative. Still, Underwood is not in the Female Artist category with a huge and successful tour, a new album, and one of the best voices in country music. That is wrong on so many levels.

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
