Carrie Underwood Still Drives An ‘Idol’ Prize She Got When She Was 18

Carrie Underwood said in a recent podcast interview that, on occasion, she still drives the Mustang convertible she was given as a prize for when she won American Idol when she was 18. She said, ” I still have the car that I won when I won American Idol. So I have my blue Mustang. And every once in a while, something will happen where I’ll have my car getting serviced or whatever, and I’ll get to drive that car.”

She added, “And it always makes me want to drive it more because it was such a pivotal point in my life. That was the car that I was driving around when I first moved to Tennessee, and I’m very, very glad I still have that car.”

Underwood admits, “Every time I get in it, I’m always like, ‘Why don’t I just drive this more often?’ Just because it makes me feel good.”

Carrie wrapped the 43-city “Denim & Rhinestones Tour” on Friday night (3/17) with a sold-out show at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena. The tour began with a sold-out performance in Greenville, South Carolina, on October 15, 2022. The first leg continued through November and resumed in Miami in February 2023. The tour stopped at New York’s Madison Square Garden, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena.

$1 from each ticket sold for the tour was contributed to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org). The organiazation has been helping America’s heroes since 9/11 by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children. They build custom-designed smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders.

Underwood posted a group photo of her band and crew on Instagram after the last show, writing, “Words can’t describe how thankful I am to this band and crew who helped put on this show night after night. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen and to all the venue staff who made us feel at home every night. @jimmieallen, thank you for putting on such a GREAT show – it was so fun to listen to you every night!! 🎶 This was a tour I’ll never forget!”
