Over the weekend, Jason Aldean's wife Brittany posted a video on Instagram thanking her parents for "not changing my gender." Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope slammed her for comparing her "tomboy phase" to someone wanting to transition.

It all started when Brittany posted a before and after video of her putting on makeup; she captioned the post, "I'd really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life."

Her husband Jason responded by saying, "Lmao!! I'm glad they didn't too, 'cause you and I wouldn't have worked out."

Cassadee Pope posted to Twitter, referring to Brittany's post, "You'd think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging. But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their "tomboy phase" to someone wanting to transition. Real nice."

Maren Morris responded to Pope's post, "It's so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie."

Brittany responded later to Cassadee and Maren's post on Insta stories writing, "I always support children and do what I can do to protect their innocence." She added, "Love is protecting your children till they are mature enough as an adult to make their own life decisions. Thankful my parents allowed me to go through my tomboy phrase without changing my gender." She also responded to Maren's comment on a separate Insta post, "Karen Morris, thank you for calling me Barbie."

Brittany then posted to Instagram thanking her fans for their support. She wrote, "I love y'all, that's all."

Jason responded to that post by referencing what Maren said about his wife, saying simply, "@brittanyaldean MY Barbie!!"

Americana singer Brandi Carlile thanked Morris (her bandmate in the Highwomen) for her comments, saying, "Bravo... it’s when you selflessly bear another’s burden that you actually reflect gods love. Way to not tolerate disgusting behavior. It’s tough…but good to see this hidden divide exposed in country music- let your little light shine."

As we get ready to celebrate all things love with Valentine's Day, we take a look at some of country music's most celebrated and happy couples.
