Disney+ announced the start of production for Obi-Wan Kenobi, their second series in the Star Wars universe, will begin shooting in April.

The cast sees Ewan McGregor returning as the iconic Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He previously played the role in 1999's Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, 2002's Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and 2005's Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of the Sith.

The show begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat -- the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice Anakin Skywalker, who turned into evil Sith Lord Darth Vader. Hayden Christensen reprises his role of Darth Vader in the forthcoming series. The rest of the cast include The Queen’s Gambit's Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton (reprising his role as Owen Lars from episodes II and III), Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Game of Thrones alum Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, Straight Outta Compton's O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow, director of two critically acclaimed episodes of the first season of The Mandalorian.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available exclusively on Disney+.
