Backstage Country Host – Darius Rucker
Make no mistake, Darius Rucker is a real country singer. Even though Darius first became a household name when he fronted the award-winning 1990’s band Hootie and the Blowfish, country music is his home.
Rucker came to Nashville to pursue country music 2008 and scored his first country number one in the same year with “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It.”
Darius lived a dream come true in in 2012 when he became a member of Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry. He plays the Opry whenever he can and did so along with Luke Bryan in 2020 during the pandemic with no audience.
He won his first Grammy as a country artist in 2013 for his smash hit “Wagon Wheel,” a song he heard at one of his daughters dance recitals.
Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s.
Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
