Tanya Tucker is back in a big way as her first album in over 17 years will be released on August 23; it was produced by Shooter Jennings and Brandi Carlile.

Tanya talked to us exclusively about how the collaboration with her two producers began. She said, "I'm still trying to figure that out. Shooter mentioned it to me about doing it, [and then] I hear Brandi Carlile wants to be involved and I didn't even know who that is. My kids did though and they said, 'Well, she's great mom, she's awesome.'"

She continued, "But I find out from my oldest daughter that Brandi had been going back and forth with text and calls with her for quite a while before Shooter even mentioned it to me. So, I don't know, I'm still trying to figure it all out, I'm not really sure how to answer that, but I'm glad it happened."

Brandi posted a photo to Instagram a few months back saying, "Are there any further questions about whether or not @thetanyatucker is still a TOTAL boss?"
