Morgan Wade Is Having Both of Her Breasts Removed to Prevent Cancer

When I saw this news, it really hit me hard because I have a family member who also had to make the difficult decision to remove her breasts. It’s something I’ll speak about later in this article, but in a courageous move to prioritize her health, Morgan Wade has decided to undergo a double mastectomy in November. The talented artist discovered that she carries the BRCA gene, which significantly increases her risk of developing breast cancer. With a family history of the disease, including her mother who underwent the same procedure and her cousin who is also considering it, Morgan is taking proactive measures to protect herself.

Leading up to the surgery, Morgan intends to keep herself occupied and focused. In an interview with Page Six, she expressed her determination, stating, “I’m going all out until November, and then I’ll take some time off to rest. Physically, I feel fine; I’m just frustrated that I won’t be able to work out. That’s my only concern.”

The news comes hot on the heels of the star announcing that her second studio album, “Psychopath,” will be released on August 25. Following the success of her debut album, “Reckless,” which topped Rolling Stone’s Best Country Albums of the year list in 2021, Morgan is ready to unveil her latest musical project. With 13 tracks, “Psychopath” will offer a glimpse into her life since the release of “Reckless.”

In an interview, Morgan shared her excitement about the upcoming album, saying, “[The album] goes into where I’m at in life right now. Which is so busy. It’s about growing up and being older, and starting to feel like, ‘Is it time to settle down?’ I think you’ll see a lot of that on the record.”

I actually have a cousin who recently went through the same thing.

Watching her go through the same procedure of a double mastectomy was a deeply emotional journey. I witnessed firsthand the incredible strength it took for her to make such a difficult decision. We had a few heart-to-heart conversations where she shared the profound struggle she faced in cutting off her breasts, as she felt it meant losing a part of her femininity. It was a journey that tested her resilience and challenged her perception of self.

  • The Weight of the World

Throughout the process, I saw the weight of her decision on her shoulders. She questioned her identity and what it truly meant to be a woman. The fear of losing such an integral part of her body overwhelmed her at times, but deep down, she knew that taking this preventive measure was crucial for her long-term health and well-being. It was a battle between her femininity and her desire to live a life free from the shadow of breast cancer.

  • A Guiding Light

Today, my cousin continues to inspire me and those around her with her unwavering strength and grace. Her story reminds us all that even in the face of life’s most challenging decisions, it is possible to find the courage to make choices that safeguard our future. By sharing her experience, she has become a guiding light for others walking a similar path, reminding them that they are not alone and that there is hope beyond the darkness.
