Operating big machines bucket list? Check!
Shawn Stevens was invited to host the first annual NUCA Backhoe Rodeo event happening at Dig This Vegas which is located at 800 W. Roban Ave Las Vegas, Nevada, 89044. NUCA stands for National Utility Contractors Association, which is a trade association in the US. Dig This Vegas is an outdoor facility that allows the non-experienced every day person to operate big equipment like bulldozers and backhoes. Super fun!
The event hosted a contest to highlight the TOP talent from each contractor around the city. The grand prize you ask? A two-door side by side RZR. Extraordinary talent were rewarded with cash and gift prizes through out the event. According to NUCALasVegas.com, the event was cost-free which featured a fun area for kids, local food truck vendors, exciting LIVE entertainment and easy-to-access bars. Fun for the kids and also fun for the adults.
Younger kids were able to experience these massive machines but on a much smaller scale. The “mini excavators” were a BIG hit!
The contest was very skilled based. A couple of the relay race tasks were helmet transfers and basketball transfers. The helmet transfer required talents to maneuver safety helmets from orange traffic cone to orange traffic cone. The talents had to carefully pick up basketballs and successfully land them into trashcans.
The event also highlighted on competition and team building. Each businesses had their co-workers cheering them on. The competition got fierce as the smallest mistake would eliminate a company.
Congratulations to Western state Contracting who won as the contest overall! Their business won as “Best Overall Contractor Company.”
Our amazing street teamer Megan, assisted listeners with entering our register-to-win giveaway. Our prize featured Motor Speedway Drag Race tickets.
The event was very successful and full of excitement. We can’t wait to return for a second annual.
