Bruce The Bat Dog And His Major League Debut

Bruce The Bat Dog is such a good boy and has been doing so good in minor league parks that he has been called up to the majors! During "Pups In The Park" at the Washington Nationals ballpark, Nationals Park, Bruce The Bat Dog was the talk of the town as he retrieved players' bats during a pregame ceremony. He’d previously served as the bat dog for the Rochester Red Wings, the Nationals’ Triple-A affiliate.

He wore a very special "MLB Debut" bandana giving as gift from his owner, Josh Snyder. This is an adorable touch because this is the very thing that players get on their jerseys when they make their debut. The good boy didn't retrieve any bats during the game, my guess is due to Major League Baseball regulations and rules, but being the ring leader of "Pups In The Park" in a pregame ceremony is pretty neat!

Snyder says the appearance generated excitement and positive attention for their community efforts, which include fundraising for veterans' organizations in Rochester. Bruce is Snyder’s second bat dog, following the late Milo, who also worked games and participated in outreach campaigns.
