Jelly Roll ‘Would Have Died’ If Wealth Came Earlier
Jelly Roll knows that he wouldn’t have made it long if he had experienced his current levels of success as a younger man.
Jelly posted a new interview podcast clip on his Instagram. In the video, Jelly says, “Money doesn’t create character, it reveals it. Same thing I believe about alcohol.” He added, “When I was a bad human, I drank a lot and became a worse human.”
In the clip, the host asks him about money and what changed for him after he got it. Jelly replied, “Lucky for me, none of it before success.” Jelly said that he doesn’t think God blessed him with money “a day before” he knew he was ready for it. He added that if he would have been given all the money he had now when he was younger, he “would have died.”

Jelly talked about the importance of therapy recently in an interview on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. Jelly described himself as an “old-school Southern man.” He noted that his relationship with God and faith are also vital to his evolution.
Jelly added that he believes in “God and therapy.” He said he is “extremely open-minded” in his “old age.” Jelly offered, “I quit searching to be happy, and I started searching to be useful.” That’s when everything changed for him, and he strives to “be a man of service” and to help people.
In the same interview, Jelly also talked about his close family. He said, “I want to anchor myself in family. I think it’s the root of everything we do. We’re a little tribe, and they’re my best friends.” He said his “favorite human on Earth” is his wife, adding how much he loves his daughter and even the family dogs.
