As Jelly Roll continues his headlining “Backroad Baptism Tour,” he’s been losing some weight. His nutritionist told fans on a recent Instagram video clip that Jelly has already lost a good amount of weight since the tour began.

In a video clip on his Instagram, his nutritionist tells the camera, “Another successful day for Jelly, just passed the two-week mark, so far this year, he’s lost 23 pounds.” Jelly captioned the video clip collage, “Mama bear did her first meet and greet – Weight loss update and songwriting in St Louis – for the 15th sold out show in a row on the Backroad Baptism tour — show 15/44 – let’s goooooo.”

Several fans responded to his post, with one writing, “You’re doing amazing work. God has big plans for you to spread the word. Jelly recently took some time out of his current 2023 “Backroad Baptism Tour” to visit inmates at a correctional facility in Virginia after the inmates asked him to come as a “favor.” Jelly posted a video clip of the experience on his Instagram.

He captioned the clip, “Always spread love when we can- thank you to the Harp program at the Chesterfield County Jail in Virginia for allowing me to come share some songs with the men and women incarcerated- your program is what is needed in these jails more than anything.”

In the video, Jelly tells the inmates gathered around him, “I heard y’all needed a favor,” as they chanted his name. He said of the video they released singing his song “Need A Favor,” asking him to visit, “I just wanna say I’m a fan. I was watching on TikTok before y’all started calling for me.”

He told the inmates, “I don’t think y’all even realize the impact that y’all are having. Whenever I was in here, we didn’t have a program like this. We didn’t have people like us come talk to us.”

4 Songs That Made Jelly Roll A Country Star

  • "Save Me" (solo version) (2020)

Jelly first released this song in June of 2020. At the time, he said of the song’s video, “This one is a bit of a curveball for me. I don’t usually do these stripped-down acoustic videos, but writing this song made me feel something. I felt y’all needed some insight into the more vulnerable side of the music business.” The song was later re-recorded as a duet with Lainey Wilson.

  • "Son of A Sinner" (2022)

This is Jelly Roll’s first single released to the country music format. It is also his first number-one song on country radio. The song is about Jelly Roll’s personal life as a traveling musician and his personal struggles with drug addiction. Jelly said that he was intoxicated while recording the vocal track.

  • "Need A Favor" (2022)

Jelly’s second number-one song on country radio. It centers on a man on the verge of losing the love of his life and praying for God to do him a favor, admitting he does not deserve it, and hoping to repent for his past actions.

  • "Save Me" duet with Lainey Wilson (2023)

An official remix of the song with Lainey Wilson was released on May 12, 2023, as the second single from Jelly’s album Whitsitt Chapel. Jelly and Lainey performed it together at the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards and later at the finale of season 21 of “American Idol.”
