More Than Just A Hockey Team

The Golden Knights became a symbol of hope, a rallying point to bring the community together. The Knights’ incredible success, both on and off the ice, has been an inspiration to us all. And now, in only their sixth season, The Golden Knights have reached the pinnacle of their sport.
The Golden Misfits
The Vegas Golden Knights, nicknamed the ‘Golden Misfits,’ were a bunch of little known players that defied all odds and reached the Stanley Cup final in their inaugural season. Ultimately, the Knights fell short to the Washington Capitals in 2018, losing the championship series 4 games to 1.
Six years and three head coaches later, the Vegas Golden Knights’ historic Stanley Cup win is one for the record books.
After 82 regular season games, the journey to the Stanley Cup began with an intense playoff run that saw the VGK battle through 22 post-season games sweeping each series beginning with the Winnipeg Jets, the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars and finally, the Florida Panthers.
This was truly a magical season, full of energy and emotion, culminating in this momentous 9-3 victory over the Florida Panthers to win the Stanley Cup. Congratulations to Captain Mark Stone (scoring a hat-trick) and the entire Golden Knights team and organization.
Head coach Bruce Cassidy deserves special congratulations for starting Game 5 with a lineup consisting of five of the original Misfits; Reilly Smith, William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault, Brayden McNabb, and Shea Theodore.

But the Golden Knights’ impact on the city goes beyond just their on-ice success. They have become an integral part of the community, giving back in meaningful ways. The Golden Knights Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the primary charitable link between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Las Vegas community. The team has also built a state-of-the-art hockey facility in Henderson, NV, which has brought jobs and economic growth to the area.
And let’s not forget about the fans. The Knights’ fan base has grown exponentially since that first season, with supporters from all over the country (and the world) flocking to the Fortress, to cheer on their team. The team’s amazing pregame ritual has become a must-see spectacle before every home game.
The Vegas Golden Knights’ Stanley Cup win is more than just a sports victory. It’s a testament to the spirit of Las Vegas, to our ability to come together and overcome adversity. It’s a reminder that dreams can come true, even when the odds are against you.
The Golden Knights have become a beloved symbol of our city, and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Here’s to many more years of Vegas glory days!
