California Cops Flooded with UFO Reports… of Jupiter and Venus
If you’ve looked up at the sky recently, you may have noticed two particularly bright objects shining brightly – Jupiter and Venus. For those who don’t often stargaze, these bright orbs may appear to be UFOs. This was certainly the case for many residents in central California, who inundated local police stations with reports of strange lights in the sky.
The police department in Modesto, California, was one of the many departments that received numerous calls from concerned citizens about the sighting. In response, they posted a message on social media, informing the public that the lights in the sky were not aliens but Jupiter and Venus.
The two planets were so close together that they appeared to merge into one shining light, creating a rare celestial event that won’t occur again until 2039. However, many people were still alarmed by the bright objects, leading to an increase in unnecessary emergency calls.
While it’s unclear why so many people mistook the planets for UFOs, it’s possible that recent news about Chinese spy balloons played a role in the public’s heightened anxiety. Regardless, the police department assured the public that there was no need to be alarmed, and that they should enjoy the beautiful astronomical event.
