9 Country Songs We Listened To In 2000s

The 2000s was a time of self discovery as many of us might say. The ’00s brought out new fashion trends as we wore trucker hats, boot cut jeans and “Live Strong” rubber bracelets. Brands like Ed Hardy and Affliction were popular and many celebrities were wearing these prints leading the shift in past fads. Do we even dare mention the studded jeans, you know what were talking about, True Religion? That was a moment in time. Fashion wasn’t the only thing making new waves.

Country music scene was shifting as pop genre influences were invading the conventional country sound. The 2000s gave us as listeners some legendary songs that carried us through out the years. The genre boomed with a fresh take from upcoming and seasoned artists like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Rascall Flatts, Kenny Chesney and many more. Artists were experimenting with new lyrics and pushing the boundary of blending genres. As many things change older country fans felt the shift but traditional country music didn’t go anywhere.

Television shows like American Idol helped push the new direction of country music. The rise of talents like Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and Josh Gracin were able to launch their careers to new heights. Fans were able to connect with their favorite artists like they never had before by calling to vote and following their social fan pages on Facebook around 2005 to 2006. The digital age was vital as music videos were being uploaded to YouTube allowing fans to see their favorite country artists right in the comfort of their own homes.

We found nine songs from some of your favorite country artists that were popular then as they are now. Let’s flashback to the good ole days with songs that carried us through the day and had us dancing all night long.

  • 9. Gretchen Wilson - "Redneck Woman"

  • 8. Jason Aldean - "She's Country"

  • 7. Carrie Underwood - "Before He Cheats"

  • 6. Toby Keith - "Beer for My Horses"

  • 5. Rodney Atkins - "These Are My People"

  • 4. Billy Currington - "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right"

  • 3. Brooks & Dunn - "Play Something Country"
