Keith Urban, who is currently touring in Australia and then spending the Christmas holiday with him and his wife's family, enjoys a holiday movie or two. He told us, "I love A Christmas Story, that's a good one, and It's a Wonderful Life, of course. I have one of my main guitars is called Clarence, and it's named after the angel [in It's a Wonderful Life], and then for some reason, I swear, no matter what you're doing flicking around the TV, but you're gonna land on Charlie Brown Christmas. I don't know how that happens, but it happens every year."
One of his favorite Christmas gifts as a child was a toy that was not easy to tear up. Keith said, "I got a yellow Tonka truck when I was about 6, I think, and it's probably still [one of] my favorite Christmas gifts ever. Those things last forever, too."
Because December is summertime in his native Australia, his holiday as a kid usually involved going to the beach. He explained, "We still love going to the beach at Christmas time, as long as we're in Australia because it's like the Fourth of July. It's huge. Everybody's out. It feels very celebratory. It's in the 90's. It's crazy, but having grown up with that, it feels very natural to me." He added, "We still had all of the same Christmas songs, so we're in like 90-degree heat with shorts and tank tops singing 'Walking in a Winter Wonderland,' and I remember getting Christmas cards of like Santa on a surfboard so that probably explains a lot."
Urban released his first Christmas song, "I'll Be Your Santa Tonight," a couple of years ago.
The lyrics of the original Christmas song sing in part, "The weatherman says / It ain't gonna snow this year / And the fog is too heavy / To cut a path for the reindeer / Your sister's stuck in Denver / And your momma can't come / But you don't have to be alone / I'll tell you why / I'll bring the magic / I'll bring the lights / I'll make you a star / At the top of the tree / Shinin' so bright."
Keith Urban is a superstar in country music and a gem of a man who plays the guitar like no one else before him or since. His concerts are epic, and he changes them for each city he is in to fit that city.
Recently in Nashville, he bought up-and-coming country singer, who sang in the bar across the street from the Bridgestone Arena, to sing with him giving her two songs and one heck of a push in the music industry.
In the same show, he brought out superstar Luke Combs to sing a couple of songs and even brought his wife, Oscar winner Nicole Kidman to the stage just to say hi to his fans.
It's hard to find just 20 songs that encompass the mega-career of Urban, but we ranked what we believe are his very best for his 55th birthday today (10/26).
