Shelton revealed in an announcement made to social media Tuesday (October 11) that this upcoming season will be his last. Shelton explained in his Instagram Story and post that he has been wrestling with the idea of leaving the singing competition show for a while now.
He wrote, "This show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me. It's been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew and catering people, you are the best. It takes a lot of work, passion and adult beverages (Ha!) to pull off a live show twice a week."
Shelton continued his announcement by thanking host Carson Daly and every single one of the coaches over the years -- including his wife, Gwen Stefani, of course. He shouted out the singers adding, "The 'Voices,' who came on this stage season after season and amaze us with their talent and a special thanks to those who chose me to be their coach."
Lastly, Blake thanked fans of the show who watch and support the artists, coaches and everyone at The Voice "who are chasing their dreams."
Following Blake's announcement, NBC's The Voice official Instagram posted what hints to be at next season's judges, tagging Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan. They captioned the post, "See you in 2023
