Carrie Underwood's new "Denim & Rhinestones" tour kicks off this weekend and as she said in a recent interview, dressing for comfort on stage is not in the plan.
Carrie said, "This time, I feel like my shoes don't have to be as comfortable as I've needed them to be in the past. Everything has to be quick-changeable and not too complicated. I don't want things to be super-super tight when I'm singing just because it makes it harder to breathe but who needs air?"
She laughed, "If it looks fabulous enough that I could take not breathing as well, then it is worth it."
Underwood also touched on the creativity this time on tour, "There's a lot of things we're doing that we haven't done before. I feel like we're in such a good creative space. I feel like everybody has really just upped their game. We've been rehearsing lately and kind of adding new flavors to songs we've been playing for a really long time. Just kind of keeping things fresh and exciting."
Carrie was thrilled to learn she was a nominee in the Entertainer of the Year category, among others, at this year's CMA Awards. She offered, "Obviously, I'm super excited. I knew that the nominations were coming out the next morning, but by the time the next morning got there, I totally forgot and was going about my day, then I looked at my phone, and I had text messages, and I was like, 'Oh! Nice!'"
She exclaimed, "It was kind of nice not to be anticipating because then I would have been nervous."
In May, Underwood announced her 2022 "Denim & Diamonds Tour"; it will kick off in Greenville, South Carolina, on Saturday (10/15) and run through 2023. She said when she announced the tour, "I'm excited to bring the new music of Denim & Rhinestones to life on tour, as well as put new spins on familiar favorites. We've been working hard already preparing an amazing show, and I can't wait to see everyone on the road!"
Carrie Underwood turns the big 4-0 today (3/10) as she continues the 2023 leg of her "Denim & Rhinestones Tour." While she has a day off on her birthday, she is back on stage at a concert in Glendale, Arizona, tomorrow night (3/11).
Carrie has created her own music legacy already in country music in the last 15 years and is the most-awarded star in country music. She was most recently nominated for a 2023 CMT Music Award for Video of the Year for her video "Hate My Heart." She has won the CMT's top award (Video of the Year) a total of ten times through the years and is the show's top winner with a total of 23 wins.
As we celebrate all things Underwood on her big day, we take a look at 22 of what we believe are her best songs ranked.
