Fresh from her ACM Honor in August in Nashville, where she was given the Poet's Award, Shania Twain is back with new music, and she teased the new song on her Instagram today (9/19).

Shania posted to Instagram this afternoon with a new image of the single's cover, "Every time I get to announce something like this, I get such a rush of adrenaline and nerves - it never gets old... I am super excited to share with you that my new song 'Waking Up Dreaming' is coming out this Friday!!"

She continued in the lengthy post, "I've spent the last couple years working away on new music... on my documentary... on the Vegas residency, and it's been such a creatively fulfilling time for me, I can't wait for this next chapter and Waking Up Dreaming is just the start."

She ended with, "WAKING UP DREAMING Coming September 23rd. Pre-save link in bio."

Fans were excited about the new song, with one writing, "WE ARE READY." Another Twin die-hard wrote, "Gorgeous pic!! Can't wait to see the finished video!!." One more fan gushed, "Omgggggg let's goooo!" reference to Shania's biggest hit, "Man, I Feel Like A Woman," which starts with the phrase, "Let's Go, Girls."

In less than one hour, the post already had over 24,000 likes.

Twain recently ended her Las Vegas residency, which kicked off in December of 2019 at Planet Hollywood's Zappos Theater. She posted to Instagram a week ago, "Ending a tour or a residency is always so heartbreaking. The journey you go on with your team is always unique, and bonding and the access you have to your beautiful fans is so special and exciting - so it's very hard to say goodbye."

She continued, "It was worse in the '90s when I didn't have social media to at least be able to say to those paying attention here - thank you to all the people who make the show possible, those on stage with me kicking butt and those behind the scenes also kicking butt - thank you to my fans, thank you for choosing to spend your time with me, thank you for the support, thank you for your uplifting energy and the love in the room. Twain Town is a special place where we all choose to love one another and accept one another - we come together to PARTY - and I will miss you all #LetsGoVegas."

Shania changed the face of country music in the late 1990s and her influence is still felt today as many country superstars like Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce, Taylor Swift, and more cite her as a major influence.
