Jeff & Aimee are tipping their hats to a Michigan community!
Elizabeth and Jake Landuyt had the surprise of their lives when their wedding day was ruined by a fire, according to CBS.
A cottage next to their Mackinac Island, Michigan, wedding venue caught fire and was spreading to their reception.
"I didn't know where we were going," told Jake to CBS. "I just figured we had to walk away from that."
Although things seemed bleak for the newlyweds, they would get a surprise of a lifetime from the community of Mackinac Island.
The head chef instructed his staff to gather all 120 meals and bring them over to the restaurant next door. Whatever ingredients they needed another restaurant provided.
"We just ran with it," said one staff member to CBS. "We just cooked it, sauced it and off down the street it went," told another to CBS.
To make matters even worse, cars are not allowed on Mackinac Island. Thus, everything had to be moved one by one on foot.
"To have them pick up the reception out of ashes, in a very literal sense, made the wedding better than we ever could have imagined and one that, while we don't necessarily recommend, it's a day and an experience that we'll cherish forever," said Jake to CBS.
