TJ Osborne appeared on Ellen yesterday (2/4) and was interviewed about his recent decision to come out as gay. TJ told Ellen DeGeneres that it feels "awkward" to come out and it "made for a very emotional day."

TJ also told Ellen, "The perfect time is always now. I felt like I wish I had done this a long time ago."

He then added, "Not only is it a weight off my shoulders to tell my truth, I expected a weight of love from family and friends, I did not expect it to feel the way it felt and you just know when people love you, but it's different when you hear it with sincerity and right now I feel so incredibly loved and I wish that I could share this love with other people."

When Ellen asked why it is harder to come out in country music TJ said, "I think country comes from a lot of rural roots, a lot of Christianity and a lot of old school thinking and I really think that's changed a lot over the years, I know it's changed a lot over the years. I'm curious to see how it all plays out with us going to rural America, I feel pretty confidant going to places like LA and Chicago and here in Nashville where I live but I'm curious to see how it in in kind of the rural counties and such."

Ellen then told Osborne, "You're gonna help a lot of young people, a lot of young boys who want to be in country music and say, 'I don't know how to do that,' you're a huge role model now."
