A community has rallied together for a teacher in need after they've served their community for more than 20 years.
Tim Gjoraas was a teacher for 22 years teaching at Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. However, his life drastically changed after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, according to CNN.
In July, doctors gave him the tragic news that he'd only have months to live. Thus, having Gjoraas to make the tough decision to retire to spend time with his wife and children.
While hanging out with Doug Rinken, another retired teacher, Gjoraas brought up a request to him.
"I just asked him if next summer, which I probably won't be here for, if he can paint it for my wife," said Gjoraas, in a CNN interview.
Well, the Gjoraas family didn't have to worry about it next summer because coworkers and friends showed up to help paint Gjoraas' house.
"You want to help in any way you can, but you know that whatever you do, it isn't going to be enough," said Rinken, in an interview with the Argus Leader. "Even this what we're doing today, it isn't going to change anything, but I just hope it makes him feel a little more comfortable. It maybe makes us feel a little better too."
