Thomas Rhett writes a ton of songs for himself, but he has also written songs for other country artists like Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean and Rascal Flatts.

Thomas collaborates with writers from L.A. and other musical scenes, so we wondered if he had any aspirations of writing songs to be recorded by pop stars? Rhett says, “I don’t know. Me and Nick Jonas have written some real terrible songs together and some good ones.”

The idea of writing a song that could become a huge pop hit intrigues him. He says, “As my career goes I think it would be really fun to take a three or four-month span where that’s all I tried to do. Maybe go to L.A. and, I don’t know, try to become friends with Adam Levine, try to get on those records.”

For now if he writes a song that he thinks is good but doesn’t necessarily fit a project he’s working on, he'll send them to his country music buddies like Jason Aldean or Luke Combs or Morgan Wallen. He says, “I just take a shot in the dark. And sometimes they get cut and sometimes they don’t. But I think it’s the songs that don’t get cut that make the ones that do, because I think you have to write and write and write until something that you love a lot comes out. And then those are the songs that end up making the record.”

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
