During the three-day Memorial Day weekend, one Chicago based singer went out of her way to entertain seniors at a nursing home.
Colette Hawley rented a 30-foot cherry picker so she could sing to seniors at Chicago Methodist Senior Services while practicing social distancing guidelines.
“I did find the overwhelming response really heartening because it indicated to me that people really do want to see something good happening for seniors in these nursing homes,” said Hawley in a Washington Post interview. “People just don’t know what to do and how to do it.”
She's been doing this good deed for seniors since 2014.
Hawley's choice went viral on Twitter and even got the attention of entrepreneur and NBA Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. He attended the University of Indiana with Hawley.
“Colette has always had an amazing heart and a desire to entertain people,” said Cuban. “Leave it to [Colette] to find a way when others don’t know how.”
