The next generation of young adults is doing their part in helping others during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Santa Fe Waldorf School in Sante Fe, New Mexico hosts a yearly trip in May for its eighth-grade students. The school trip is funded by eighth-grade students raising money by selling burritos and pizzas.
However, after their school trip was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic they used the money for a good cause.
Students decided to send $2800 in supplies to the Navajo Nation, which has one of the worst COVID-19 cases per capita in the US, according to KPNX NBC Channel 12.
After helping with the shopping list and stuffing the van with supplies it was time to drive.
Jessica Falkenhagen along with her daughter made the trip to Window Rock, Arizona to drop off the supplies.
“I could see how lit up the kids were about that idea,” said Daisy Barnard, Santa Fe Waldorf School teacher. “None of them complained about using the money for something other than a trip.”
