The tree of life is going strong for a neighborhood in Iowa.
In the midst of a global shortage of medical face masks, 55-year-old Deb Siggins wanted to use her time to join the fight against COVID-19. After her local hospital was experiencing a shortage of face masks, Siggins decided to make 100 homemade masks for hospital staff.
However, Siggings soon found herself getting multiple requests for masks from her family.
That's when she decided to leave the masks on a tree for people to take, that way no one breaks social distancing guidelines.
“It was really cool to see people driving up, grabbing a mask and leaving … It’s been a hit,” said Siggins, in a Good Morning America interview. “I’m a giver, not a taker, so I feel really good.”
Siggins has since made and paid for 400 masks out of her own pocket. She just is just one of many people that are doing their part during the COVID-19 pandemic.
