Lady Antebellum kicked off our very first Superstar Mini Concert with three songs including "Boots", a glimpse into their album Ocean, and life at home during the quarantine. Here are a few things they had to say.
Charles Kelley wrote "Boots" while he was on the beach with songwriter Ross Copperman. It was a simple idea where "These boots are never walking out on you" instead of "These boots are made for walking." It's the "rocker" on the album.
Dave Haywood shared how personal this album was for them; he said that they felt vulnerable and dug deep. They've been a band for 13 years now so there's a lot of storytelling about their families and the ups and downs of their career.
"What I'm Leaving For" was a song that has special resonance for them, as it captures the feeling of leaving their families to go on tour. Hillary Scott says that she wants her kids to grow up and chase their dreams -- as she has done -- and do what they are called to do as well. Now, more than ever with all of our first responders and essential workers keeping us safe and healthy there's an even new meaning to the song.
Hillary has been filling her days spending quality time with her young daughters which has been fun, but also challenging at times. She understands this is a time to reflex, pray, and trust that everything will be okay.
