In an amazing effort to help serve his country again one WWII veteran answered the second call of duty for frontline workers fighting COVID-19.

English WWII veteran Tom Moore wanted to say thank you to National Health Service workers by setting a goal of 100 laps by his 100th birthday around his garden and £1,000 pounds for NHS charities.

The 99-year-old veteran gained a lot of attention and quickly surpassed his goal of £1,000 pounds. As of reporting, he's raised over £4 million pounds, about $4.9 million USD.

“I thank the British public from the bottom of my heart,” said Moore, in a BBC interview. “It’s difficult to imagine all these kind people who have donated so far. It’s just amazing.”

Moore first started doing his daily 10 laps on April 6th and is quickly on his way to finishing his goal of 100 laps by his 100th birthday on April 30th.

He was a civil engineer before WWII then enlisted in Britain's army and served in India and Burma.
